Silo House / Kaiserworks




Nestled in the Garfield Historic District of downtown Phoenix, Arizona, this contemporary rehabilitation of a 1955 grain silo challenges conventions of what ‘home’ is. Principal and Owner of Phoenix-based architecture office Kaiserworks not only developed the concept and design but also personally funded and built the project. The project sought to investigate tenants of “home,” as a sequel to a graduate master’s thesis called “The MetaUrban” that Kaiser presented at Harvard’s Graduate School of Design.


애리조나 주 피닉스의 다운타운, 가필드 역사 지구에 조용히 자리 잡은 이 건물은 1955년에 지어진 곡물 사일로를 현대적으로 개수한 것으로, 「집」의 상식에 도전하고 있습니다. 피닉스에 본사를 둔 건축 사무소 Kaiserworks의 대표이자 소유자는 컨셉과 디자인을 개발했을 뿐만 아니라 개인적으로 자금을 투자하고 프로젝트를 건설했습니다. 이 프로젝트는 Kaiser가 하버드 대학 디자인 대학원에서 발표 한 "The MetaUrban"이라는 석사 논문의 속편으로 "집"의 주민을 조사하는 것을 목표로했습니다.
