Design Statement. No. 1381-1 Yuyuan Road, stands set back 30 meters from the bustling main street, leaving a modest forecourt that separates it from the urban hustle. Home to Element - a fashion boutique in Shanghai that has attracted much attention in recent years, the modest three-story building is surrounded by rows of houses and commercial buildings, presenting only a front façade to passersby. It appears quiet and restraint amidst the lively neighborhood, whilst could be easily overlooked. Through meticulous observations of the urban interface and detailed investigations of the building's inherent qualities, Atelier tao+c has reimagined a community-oriented renovation of Element's store.


디자인 문장. 빈원로 1381-1번지는 활기찬 메인 스트리트에서 30미터 정도 깊은 곳에 세워져, 겸손한 앞뜰이 도시의 번잡함으로부터 멀어져 있습니다. 최근 주목을 받고 있는 상하이 패션 부티크 '엘리먼트'의 본거지인 이 겸손한 3층 건물은 주택가와 상업 빌딩으로 둘러싸여 통행인에게는 정면의 외관만 보입니다. 활기 넘치는 거리 속에서는 조용하고 겸손한 인상을 줍니다만, 동시에 간과되어 버릴 가능성도 있습니다. 아틀리에 타오+c는 도시와의 접점을 면밀히 관찰하고 건물 본래의 특성을 상세하게 조사함으로써 엘리먼트의 점포를 지역에 뿌리를 둔 형태로 리노베이션하는 것을 구상했습니다.
