“Oyane-San” Shikoku Mura Entrance / kousou

On the northern tip of Shikoku Island, surrounded by the Seto Inland Sea, is Mt. Yashima, a peninsula with historical significance for Japan. This scenic locale hosts Shikoku Mura, a leading open-air architectural museum dedicated to preserving and showcasing traditional houses from the Shikoku region. Our challenge was to redesign its entrance, transforming it into a new focal point complete with information spaces, ticketing, restrooms, and a shop—all while symbolizing renewal. The site was a parking lot elevated above the main access road, loosely connecting a shrine to the east, the museum's udon restaurant within a traditional house (Waraya) to the south, and an old Western-style house (Ijinkan) to the west. To the north, leading the visitor deep into the museum grounds, is Nagarezaka, a stone road by sculptor Masayuki Nagare. 

시코쿠 섬의 북쪽 끝, 세토 내해에 둘러싸인 야시마는 일본에서 역사적으로 중요한 반도입니다. 이 경치 좋은 장소에는 시코쿠 지방의 전통 가옥을 보존·전시하는 야외 건축 박물관 “시코쿠무라”가 있습니다. 우리의 과제는 입구를 재설계하고 정보 공간, 티켓 판매, 화장실, 상점을 갖춘 새로운 초점으로 바꾸는 것이 었습니다. 그리고 그 모든 것이 리뉴얼을 상징합니다. 부지는 메인 액세스 도로보다 높아진 주차장으로, 동쪽은 신사, 남쪽은 전통적인 가옥(짚가게)에 있는 박물관의 우동점, 서쪽은 낡은 양옥(이인관)을 완만하게 연결합니다. 북쪽에는, 방문자를 박물관의 부지의 깊숙이로 인도하는, 조각가 유정지에 의한 자갈길의 길 「흐르자카」가 있습니다.
