Peninsula House / Wood Marsh

As an artistic architectural response to Australia’s coastline and the contours of the rural landscape, Peninsula House forms a dramatic sculptural relic, weathered by its context. The dwelling is located on the high point of the site, overlooking a coastal stretch of Flinders with Bass Strait beyond. Approached along a meandering driveway, a ribbon of rammed earth rises monumentally 10 meters into the air, wrapping behind the dwelling before gradually tapering and returning to the landscape. The elevation has minimal glazing and considerable thermal mass – stabilizing the heat from the afternoon sun. A notch midway along the wall forms a shadow line, subtly defining the entry.


호주 해안선과 시골 풍경의 윤곽에 대한 예술적 건축적 응답으로, 페닌슐라 하우스는 맥락에서 풍화 된 극적인 조각의 유물을 형성합니다. 주거는 부지의 고대에 위치해, 버스 해협을 사이에 두고 플린더스의 해안을 일망할 수 있다. 구부러진 차도를 따라 가까워지면, 판축된 판토의 리본이 10 미터의 높이까지 하늘 높이 우뚝 솟아 서, 주택의 뒤를 감싸고, 그 후 서서히 테이퍼져 풍경에 돌아옵니다. 이 고도에는 최소한의 창유리와 상당한 열 질량이 있으며 오후 태양의 열을 안정시킵니다. 벽의 중간에 노치가 그림자 라인을 형성하고 입구를 미묘하게 정의합니다.
